Poor communication with installers. Unable to install system in one visit. Installment of system became too complicated. Northstar outsources to companies that are not kept informed. Installment should be done in one visit. We kept getting the "run around". Very frustrated so we cancelled our account. Will chose a more reputable company.

Auto-renew contracts without notice … Auto-renew contracts without notice should be illegal. Got stuck into an extra 18-month contract paying double the amount we would be paying with a competitor. So after 5 years, now stuck for another year and a half. Won't forget to send that written notice (that we weren't even aware of) this time.

Would give a 1/2 star if possible If I could give a 1/2 star, I would. I had a horrible experience with North Star. When I called to cancel, I was told I was locked into another 18 months after already completing 5 years with such a heartless company. They give you a long contract then do not contact you when your contract is ending. The contract is automatically renewed from a contract signed FIVE years ago. The representative attempted to "drop my rate" yet increase my time. I am leaving this company at the first opportunity. They should lose any lawsuit against them. Extremely horrible customer service. Expensive service. Long contract terms. Worst company I've ever done business with. Stay FAR away!

BAD BUSINESS. I agree with R. Leytham! In order to cancel, I have to pay out my contract even after we lost our house to hurricane Harvey. They have no consideration for ANY of their customers...probably because they have been sued by ADT & other security companies. They claimed they were affiliated with ADT. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THESE VULTURES!! They don't even deserve 1 star!

They will keep “auto renewing” your… They will keep “auto renewing” your contract and charging you hundreds to get out of it. We waited 18 months for our contract to end to call and cancel and then were told we’d have to wait another 18 months because when we signed up FIVE years ago the contract said it could auto renew. They send out no notification of renewal-most likely so they can hopefully lock you in without you catching it. Shady company, crappy equipment, crappy customer service.
