GBOur home phone Our home phone, connected to the Basic Talk modem via Ethernet, suddenly stopped receiving calls. We could call out, at least, and this system has worked well for the past decade or so of our subscription, but things quickly got worse. Now we're not able to make calls as of yesterday (03/07/2024), and the company sent an email advising us that our service was terminated, and that they needed to legally advise us that we have no emergency (911) call capability! My interactions with customer service were cordial, but they could not resolve the original problem. Basic Talk was a good phone service, but apparently they're not maintaining good customer relations or support.

GBRefusing to cancel my account and lying I'm having a very similar problem to many of the other people who have left reviews. I've been trying to cancel my account but just keep getting "thank you for choosing to continue service" emails - even after being ASSURED that the account has been canceled. That's just straight up dishonest. I'm not sure what to do in this situation, except if they end up charging me again contacting my credit card company and disputing the charges as fraudulent. They just absolutely refuse to cancel the account.

GBI have had Basic Talk for about 4 years… I have had Basic Talk for about 4 years at first they were very good, but for the last six months iv'e had nothing but trouble and i can't get anything done about the problem, so i'm going back to magic jack.I refuse to do business with a company that is almost impossible to deal with.My suggestion is don't even deal with them!!!!.

TTA BASIC GIMMICK | Technically, it works, and as the name implies it's BASIC service. Except for Caller ID, and Call waiting, you get NOTHING more. Call Forwarding should be BASIC! PRICE is where it gets very deceptive! It's pushed as $10/month. That's a lie! I'm paying $15/month! Besides actual REAL taxes, they make up several charges and attempt to bamboozle you into believing they are Federal taxes. There are now "virtual" services which makes Basic Talk obsolete. By the way, BASIC TALK is a dumbed down version of VONAGE, which owns it.

GBNumber was hacked Number was hacked, and basic talk acted if I was the guilty party, shutting off my phone without letting me know. Suspending my account, not returning phone calls, charging me for service that I do not have. Cannot cancel because no one wants to take responsibility to handle this problem, every one is pointing to the other dept. I am stuck in the middle.
