GBTransmission sounded like marbles in a can... Took my 09 Wrangler to another shop because it sounded like marbles rattling around in a can. The shop recommended a full transmission replacement for $6400 due to the fact that multiple parts would be backordered. I called a few other shops and finally got in touch with Scott at Cottman Transmission in Wheat Ridge. I told him the situation and he told me to bring it in to get looked at but from what I was describing it didn't warrant a full replacement....possibly just a rebuild of gears. Brought it in and they had it inspected within the day with an estimated cost of repairs (which was well below the $6400 price the other shop quoted). They got everything done quickly and while I thought it was going to be longer I went out of town. They had no problem storing my jeep until I got back and ensured that it stayed locked and safe....even took it to the carwash for me. They scheduled a time to come back and have everything inspected and checked over. During their inspection they found a loose brake line and a bolt rattling that wasn't related to the work they had done. They took care of it on the spot without any charge to me. They took the time to answer all of my questions and even kept the broken gears to show me exactly what was wrong with my transmission. They treated with me respect and were patient with my curiosity and lack of knowledge about how my transmission worked. If I ever need anything else done to my jeep I'd pay to have it towed here before I take it any where else!!!

GBWe all fear getting ripped off by a… We all fear getting ripped off by a dishonest mechanic. That's exactly what happened to me after I brought my truck into cottman's Transmissions. This place is a nightmare. do yourself a favor and bring your vehicle somewhere else. My truck was making a specific noise so I brought it in the cottman's. They looked at it and determined it was the transfer case. I okayed them to do to work on the transfer case. An expensive repair. After picking up my vehicle and driving it home from the shop I noticed it had the same noise. They were closed so I called them the next day and they said my truck had two separate issues. A transfer case issue and a rear axle issue. Somewhere in our conversations I mention reverse slipped once or twice when I first bought the vehicle but it hasn't happened for 6 months prior to them working on it. They attempted to spin it by saying I said reverse wasn't working and they test drove it and it was slipping in reality. Reverse was working fine when I dropped it off to them and they say they test drove it and all of a sudden it's slipping? Anyone with common sense can figure out they were trying to cover themselves. Nice spin.THEY TOLD ME THAT BY REBUILDING THE TRANSFER CASE THAT WOULD ELIMINATE THE NOISE AND AT NO POINT DID THEY TELL ME THAT THE WORK THEY PERFORMED WOULD NOT ELIMINATE THE NOISE UNTIL AFTER THEY DID THE WORK AND CHARGED ME $2,200. Whether my truck was having two separate issues or not they misdiagnosed the problem and did nothing to rectify it. I even talked to the owner Jim and I was shocked when he offered no resolution. This shop is good at taking your money but bad at diagnosing and fixing the problem. Totally dishonest and unprofessional. Take your vehicle somewhere else!
