About Spinlister

How it works for people listing: 1) Members easily sign up through our web platform, iOS app, or Android app. 2) They list their bicycles, skis, snowboards, SUPs, or surfboards with real photos, to rent to likeminded people worldwide. They set their own price, which they can also adjust per rental. 3) Users searching for equipment in their area request to rent for specified days and times. Listers can easily turn down an offer if the agreement doesn’t work for them. 4) Money is transferred securely prior to pick up, eliminating any uncomfortable conversations or non-payment. 5) Every bike listed is insured up to $5,000, skis/snowboards $1,000, and SUPs/surfboards $2,000 against theft or damage, making the experience completely safe for every person listing their gear. Both renters and listers can review each other and become verified through Facebook, Twitter, and cell phone. How it works for the renter: 1) Users search for bikes, skis, snowboards, SUPs, or surfboards in the area they wish to rent. 2) They view the equipment available in that area and make a request to rent the ride. 3) There is an in-app chat feature allowing both parties to communicate about price, components, verifications, reviews, etc. Once the lister decides they will rent the equipment to the person requesting, they “confirm” the request. 4) Renter pays for the rental and picks up their equipment at the negotiated time and place.

Great way to rent bikes for visiting friends I have rented bikes through Spinlister a few times and have found it to be a great way to rent bikes for friends who visit NYC. When I used it last summer, the reservation system was a little iffy, in that nothing was confirmed immediately and you had to message a number of people to find a bike. Otherwise, a totally pleasurable experience.

This Company Needs to Stop ALL Operations This company suspended my account because they could not afford to pay me. How can a company that brags about Oprah backing them (who will never rent a bicycle in her life- let’s be for real here) punish and remove a user that has brought in hundreds of customers who have NEVER heard of the site? I also maintained a 5 star review the entire duration but I guess once they saw me approaching $10,000 in rental revenue they decided it had to come to an end. I used an alternate rental platform before Spinlister but their customer service hours did not meet my needs so I switched to them and that was a nightmare once they saw that I was in high demand. They canceled my upcoming rentals for a customer that spent over $250 and shut down my account. Very insane behavior. They have so much potential to be great but it seems that they lack basic customer service and respect. I also noticed that in the major cities , ALL the listings/listers have a maximum of 2 reviews and have been inactive for months-years AND there seems to be a fake account making fake reviews on a lot of the listings (probably to make it look like there has been activity on their app). I pointed this out to them once they paid me late twice in a row but they ensured that I was wrong and that they have had an increase of rentals by 300%. 300% is a made up number by them especially when NO ONE out of at least 1,000 people have ever heard of the company and they also could not provide this data for proof. And the app is no longer in the app store . Shocker

Definitely worth my time! Renting my ride out on Spinlister has been a solid, pain-free experience. The longer rentals were a bit nerve-wracking at first, but turned out well and were worth the investment of time to exchange the ride and do a little maintenance on the bike afterward. I'll definitely keep using the service!

Great way to make extra money by doing nothing Spinlister is great as a renter -- it's easy to find a quick bike when I'm visiting other cities. Also, I've rented out my bikes, which helps offset their high cost. The app is easy to use. I wish it was easier to search and that users needed to refresh their posts, some of the listed bikes are no longer available for rent.

Great concept, not a lot of worthwhile users This is a great idea, in theory. But I didn't get a lot of people wanting to rent my bike. The ones that were interested wanted it for only brief periods of time, making it not worth my while to do the legwork of arranging pickup and dropoff. Do I want to exchange multiple emails, multiple text messages, and rendezvous twice so I can pocket fifteen dollars? No. If more people wanted it for a week at a time, it would make more sense.
