GBGreat Service I have used spinlister twice and had a GREAT experience. It is a service that needs more support to grow the base- I would use it more if there were bikes available, especially when I travel.

GBGreat way to rent bikes for visiting friends I have rented bikes through Spinlister a few times and have found it to be a great way to rent bikes for friends who visit NYC. When I used it last summer, the reservation system was a little iffy, in that nothing was confirmed immediately and you had to message a number of people to find a bike. Otherwise, a totally pleasurable experience.

GBGreat concept, not a lot of worthwhile users This is a great idea, in theory. But I didn't get a lot of people wanting to rent my bike. The ones that were interested wanted it for only brief periods of time, making it not worth my while to do the legwork of arranging pickup and dropoff. Do I want to exchange multiple emails, multiple text messages, and rendezvous twice so I can pocket fifteen dollars? No. If more people wanted it for a week at a time, it would make more sense.

GBFantastic ride I had an awesome time using Spinlister in SF. My only current issue is the lack of protections for riders. At this point, it seems like there's no recourse or protection in the case of a stolen bike - even if it was locked properly and you took precautions. It'd be great to have the option to opt into some insurance during the reservation. I ended up feeing a bit worried the whole trip and hoping something crazy didn't happen with the bike.

GBGreat Service! Be sure to screen your renters. Some renters can be flaky or demand too much. Don't bend over backwards for a rental (one person expected me to drive for over an hour to deliver the bikes to a hotel). Other renters are great and completely painless, and these are the majority. Spinlister is great, especially if you live in a densely populated area. Out in the suburbs, it can be a challenge occasionally.
