FREvil new podcast ads talk about how much Taxact hates doing taxes whilst being the lobbyists who insist laws exist to make the taxes impossible to do. Evil.

DETaxAct does not e-file for free, despite being an IRS free file partner TaxAct is listed under the IRS trusted partners for free E-filing of your tax return. I fulfilled the criteria for free filing but they still tried to charge me $50 to file the foreign income tax exclusion form, which means it is not a free file program. It is also impossible to delete your account without contacting the company, which is difficult when you are living abroad. Please avoid TaxAct if you are trying to use the IRS free file offer.

GBI used this awful company for trust… I used this awful company for trust account. I had one question and was told that I would have to pay to get help. When I talked to a person on the phone they said they had no idea, and no one would know the answer. When I tried to get my money back they would not refund it because I had already printed it out. I explained that it was trash, that they could not answer the question when they claim that they assist with trusts and then no one knew the answer. Be careful with this company. When I called HR Block the advisor told me that they have had many customers go to them because the software interface was junk, and I have to agree. I do my personal taxes on freetaxusa and it is quick and easy and free.

GBI have used TaxAct for 8 yrs I have used TaxAct for 8 yrs. For 2020, they went to zero phone support so they are now stuck with major poor reviews from users who can't check their experience with a support person to validate. For me and my business, their platform cannot provide the flexibility to handle business 1099-INT's correctly so I won't be able to use it again. The form doesn't allow altering the tax ID to the lending business. The result is that interest shows up on the personal Schedule B instead of the business Schedule C.

GBNever again I've used TaxAct for many many years. For the first time, I had a bad experience. I live in New Hampshire, where there's no state tax, however, when I submitted my federal return, they also submitted my non-existent state return. They charged me $69.99 for the federal return, and $59.99 for the state return. I called customer service and asked them to refund me the $59.99. They only refunded $11.99 because it was already submitted to the IRS. If someone doesn't have to file a state tax return, why do they still submit it?! It seems very scammy to me. I'm leaving TaxAct and will be using a different software in the future.
