We needed a product that would help us… turn a den into a nursery We needed a product that would help us turn a den into a nursery for baby #2 by closing off an open doorway into the room to block light & sound but still allowing us to come in and out. After learning that other methods (sheetrock, accordian doors, etc) couldnt work, Residential Acoustics was able to create a large, custom fitted acoustic curtain that we could hang and slide open and closed as needed. The curtain does a great job keep light and sound out to keep the baby asleep while still allowing air to flow. Good looking, smooth installation, no perceivable difference in noise level I was excited for this product. Buy it if the only thing you care about is blocking light. If there is any difference in how they block street noise is not significant enough to improve your sleep quality. I'm still waking up at 5:30AM together with the traffic. At least they look nice :) I'd hate taking them off after making all those holes in my window frame. My experience makes me question the origin of the reviews on this site, but oh well.

Works as advertised! I live in downtown LA and also have an east facing apartment. the traffic noise can get kind of loud and at night can be disruptive. I found Residential Acoustics online searching for solutions and I took a chance on them. Not only is any sound at all barely even noticeable, the curtains also completely block out all the sunlight that used to pour into the bedroom, making it much easier to stay asleep until its actually time to wake up.

Noticeable noise reduction The curtain is helpful in reducing outdoor noise as well as early morning light. It's heavy, but the hooks provided make mounting straightforward. Raising the curtain is more work than a conventional curtain, but the straps work well. I'm a satisfied customer.

The instructions were missing a few… The instructions were missing a few details like rotating the piece that holds the bar in place. The curtain makes absolutely zero difference in noise level. The magnetic strip is pulled off the wall by the weight of the curtain.
