GBSmooth processing but firmer than advertised The ordering process and shipping were great. However I purchased the one sided echo twin mattress for my spare bedroom and it is supposed to be a 7 out of 10 for firmness according to the company, but while I definitely prefer a firm bed (and also have a Stearns and Foster luxury firm mattress and I would rate that one a 7 of 10), I’d rate the echo mattress a 9 of 10 (it was a 10 out of 10 out of the box but softened up a little bit after a few weeks use). I am looking for solutions to soften it up more, but by the time I potentially purchase an expensive topper to help, the cost will end up in a place where I would have just bought something else. Green Mattress does offer a topper, but even when discounted it is very pricey, so looking elsewhere and trying to keep it “green”

GB"Natural Escape" not great for the chemically sensitive - strong natural odors that don't offgas I purchased the Natural Escape Mattress and a Latex topper in September 2017. It's now late February 2018. I have moderate MCS (chemical sensitivity) and was looking for a mattress that wouldn't have any odors. While the Natural Escape may be one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever laid on, and the owners and customer service are sooo nice, I wouldn't recommend this mattress if you consider yourself chemically sensitive or odor sensitve. The mattress has been off-gassing in a guest room for 5 1/2 months and the strong odor of both the natural wool and latex are dominating the room. My stepkids have slept in there without any problem, though when asked they did tell me they could smell the mattress. But I myself am unable to sleep on it because the smells have not dissipated at all. It doesn't smell like a typical non-natural mattress, it's just that the natural smells are so intense I can't take them.. I wish the company would offer a version of the mattress with wool that's been processed more to remove the smell. And I'm not sure why the latex still has this odor but it seems to be an issue with many latex products, not just mygreenmattress. A few years ago, I did successfully purchase an organic cotton and wool mattress from a custom mattress maker in NJ and I was able to sleep on that from Day 1 without a problem. Of course that mattress did not have any latex or the comfort factor that mygreenmattress has.

GBLatex smell The mattress is comfortable, but there is a smell. A heavy latex smell that penetrates my mattress pad and sheets and pajamas. Smells like a box of band-aids.

GBMixed experiences I have two mattresses from MyGreenMattress: A Pure Echo, which is rated as a 7 on the firmness scale and a 2016 Natural Escape, which is rated as a 6.5. The Pure Echo was for my son, but as I also needed a new mattress, I tried it out to see if I would want one, as I typically like mattresses more on the firm side. I found the Pure Echo extremely hard, like sleeping on a padded, carpeted floor, but one step softer, hard. After a couple of nights, I moved it into my son's room and called MyGreenMattress to describe the issues I had with it to see if I should try a topper or get a different style bed for myself. I was told the latex topper they have is soft and because I sleep on my back as well as my side and like a firmer feel, it was recommended I try the Natural Escape. Since the Natural Escape was listed as a 6.5 (give or take), I figured if anything it would be too hard given my experience with the Pure Echo and I would just add a topper if needed. A short time later they listed their 2016 version of the Natural Escape and after some back and forth emails with the company to see if it was worth the risk of buying a non-returnable mattress, I was told the discernible difference was that it would feel more bouncy. According to the website it had the same comfort, support and firmness rating, so I took the leap and purchased it. Much to my dissatisfaction, the 2016 Natural Escape is SOFT! So soft that my rear end sinks into it when I am lying on my back, putting pressure on my lumbar area. For reference, I am 160 lbs, so not so heavy as to strain the bed's support system. The cover is also loose to the point that I can pull it up at least three inches. Perhaps this is why the bed feels so soft...the cover isn't tight enough? I'd give it an overall rating of a 2 for quality, comfort, and falling short of the description on the website and how MyGreenMattress employee(s) described it. I understand that firmness is subjective, but when the same company/website lists one mattress as a 7 and another as a 6.5, there shouldn't be that huge of a difference in firmness. Perhaps their current version of the Natural Escape is much improved and feels completely different, but that wasn't what I was told. On the flip side, if I was reviewing the Pure Echo alone, I would rate it as a 4.5. The bed feels very well made and strikes me as being high quality. I also loved the fresh and clean wool smell that has since dissipated. I deducted half a star because I feel it's more an 8-8.5 on the firmness scale, but you could find a topper to suit you to make it more comfortable if it's too hard. If I could do it over again, that is definitely what I would do. ***In response to MyGreenMattress, I did email the company prior to purchase and was told the main difference was that the 2016 version was "more bouncy," not softer. I also emailed twice after I received the mattress to see if there was something I could do to make the mattress firmer and was told that they were having a hard time coming up with a solution for me, but I could try a compressed wool topper, but they didn't know where I could get one.
