NZUnauthorised charges on my credit card! Unauthorised charges on my credit card! I followed some links to "free" documents on scribd a while back. Now there are charges appearing on my credit card. Did I give them permission? Well whenever I sign up for an account anywhere I do these things: 1) I use the "+" feature of gmail to identify the company eg myemail+scribd at gmail. This great feature makes it easy to sort my emails and keep track of things. My alleged account at scribd did not have this addition. 2) I use a particular pattern for my user names to make them easier to remember. My alleged scribd username did not follow my pattern. 3) I use a password manager to store the website and username, and generate a unique and VERY secure password for each site. There is no entry for Scribd in my password manager database! 4) Then I paste the password from password manager into my browser. I checked my browser and there is no password stored for Scribd! So I accept I have opened links to documents that the linkers said were free, but I can be pretty sure I _didn't_ give Scribd permission to charge me. So how did they manage to charge my credit card? I am querying Scribd about this.

AUNever signed up but their name showed up on my credit card. 2 seperate lines of charge showed up with their name on my credit card with $0. We don't have any accounts with them so no reason for any of it. How they got my credit card details is beyond me. But looking at all the reviews here, sounds like it's a dodgy company that makes it impossible to unsubscribe and deals with other shady business practices. I will wait for a couple of days to make sure the charges are gone otherwise might have to do a chargeback on credit card.

ATforged and illegal documents for download at SCRIBD SCRIBD makes it possible to receive forged and illegal documents from users without any prior checks and offers these to paying customers for download. Even direct information to SCRIBD that a certain document is a forgery and is also illegal is of no avail. In my experience, complaints or tips are ignored. P.S. Comment to the below reply from SCRIBD: SCRIBD's response makes it clear that they didn't even bother to (properly) read through my comment above. The recommended "support" had been contacted by me before via Email and had been given all the details of the illegal/fake document, with a request to delete it from the server before further legal action could be required. This was followed by a presumably automated blah, blah, blah response. What's the point of contacting support if you get answers like that: QUOTE "......However, we regretfully inform you that we are unable to accept guest posts. Please note that neither Scribd, SlideShare, nor Everand are platforms for guest posts. Additionally, we do not list or index documents published on external websites nor participate in link exchange programs." UNQUOTE

GBThere isn't a 0 so I give it a 1 There isn't a 0 so I give it a 1. Despite the fact that I tried in several occasions to cancel this subscription that I've barely used 3 times in one week in 2021...they still robbing me on the 3rd year now. Been cancelled their subscription with barclays, as none are answering but a month later they still taking money out as they got my details. No replies whatsoever, proper scammers. I will contact ombudsman.

AUCharged me despite no validated email Apparently I signed up months back to Scribd. The issue was that the email address I entered was incorrect and would definitely have bounced! So no welcome email, no receipts etc. Yet despite not having a validated email address they continued to charge me a monthly fee. Once I saw the recurring payment they only refunded 1 month subscription. Surely this is not legal to charge someone without a validated email address??? I hope the document I read was worth it, as I'm $100 out of pocket :-(
