GBPerfect first cell phone FreedomPop is a great service for introducing kids to their first cell phones. You can start with a free or inexpensive plan, then ramp us as budget or need allows. It requires a bit of perseverence, the app takes some getting used to

GBIt is not working any more, don't waste your time! Despite repeatedly reporting for years that Cyprus area code and the flag used is wrong they failed to fix. Such a simple fix and they didn't bother to take care, imagine you need something more serious... Update: If your Support truly works then get the offending flag removed without any further delay!!! It's been more than 2 years since it was originally reported however you still continue to insult a whole nation... It seems there is no dignity whatsoever in this firm.

GBReliable service Reliable service. The only thing that could improve is to allow renewing monthly a few days before the renewal date. This way there won't be a lapse in service in case there is an emergency when away from the internet. The way it works now is you can't renew until the service in inactive. That leaves a lack in service which could occur in an emergency situation, like a car breakdown. Thanks.

GBDecent Service FreedomPop seems to provide adequate to good phone and data service at a reasonable price, but I wish calls were direct cell calls, not routed over the Internet. Messaging is also slower to start than with other carriers.
Bad Luck
GBNot a scam, But Make sure you read the fine print TWICE! Another service with poor disclosures and even worse customer support. If you make sure to read every single letter on every singe page, you'll have a general idea of what you're getting. But some information is only explained in more detail after you sign up, as it can be exhausting to have to scour every page for info. The one time I clicked a checkbox for a option without reading the "More info" url, I was instantly charged for adding a service! No mention of the pricing on the whole page, no pop-up conformation prompt, just an instant charge to my paypal account, so I turned it off within seconds, and contacted support and they refused to fund it, as I had already "used the service" even if I gained no benefits from it in the seconds it was active. In short, I've used tons of paid services, and almost always read every 'learn more' link I'm presented with. But this is the first one that I feel I had to walk on egg shells by just using.
