Amazing Scotland/Shetland Knitting Tour I recently returned from the Scotland/Shetland Knitting Tour and had an absolutely wonderful time. The trip was very well organized and the fabulous, knowledgeable, funny, Scottish guide Kirsty was able to flexibly time manage and manoeuvre us through all manner of textile and historic sites with ease. To be immersed in the world of Shetland knitting was so inspiring. Not only did I learn lots from these Shetland teachers, but my fellow tour mates were equally inspiring with their beautiful knits. This tour exceeded my expectations and for anyone who has a passion for knitting and all things textile I know they’d love this tour as much as I did.

Knitting in Paradise This was the second tour I have done with Knitting Tours, and it was fabulous! The venue (Parknasilla Resort) lives up to the hype on their website. I didn’t try the swimming, spa or gym, but the walking trails are well maintained and the trails along the ocean offer great views. The only hiccup was the cancellation of a sightseeing drive along the Ring of Kerry - but there was a good reason. A nasty piece of weather named Agnes! But the group managed to have the resort start a fire for us and we received hot chocolate or Irish coffee which we enjoyed along with some extra time with our instructor! An alternate tour was arranged, but knitters can be an ornery group! We requested a speedy return to Dublin instead so we could get to the delightful knitting store “This Is Knit” and they graciously obliged. All in all, a spectacular experience!

Overall the our was great great Overall the tour was great. I would have loved some preparatory material that helped bridge the gap between the knitting terms that I have used all my life & those of North America which is what the tour was aimed at. At times I felt out of my depth & yet I have been a knitter all my life. Supplementary information or resources would have helped.

5 BIG shiny stars I think having the basics all correct is the start to a good trip. The venues were well researched, the timing from one event to another all worked. It seems like a small thing but with out the basics of the trip being correct nothing could go right. I too if a well organized and executed trip the professionalism friendliness of the Tour staff and designers made the trip extra special. This is my second trip with them and I’m already looking for the third.

A delightful, informative experience This is the fourth Knitting Tours trip I have taken. This tour met the expectations set be the previous three. Tour guide June was knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around; the couch drivers Jim and Graeme were experts at navigating the narrow streets and tight parking lots, all with a great sense of humor. The tour itself was a good mix of history and sharing the knowledge of expert instructors. The food in the hotels and the various lunch stops was mostly excellent--if there's a criticism, it's that the portions were large, with wonderful desserts! I think we would have liked more opportunities to visit yarn shops. We had a few really good ones, but I don't think there could ever be too many opportunities! Overall it was a delightful, informative experience.
