GBEasy DNS services, even for a novice. If you are looking to register a domain or are in need of dynamic DNS for self-hosting then this is definitely the best. During the recent pandemic I decided to use my downtime to further my knowledge and know-how of having my own website. I had absolutely zero knowledge of domain name registration, self-hosting or email services and luckily I came across DynuDNS. The user interface is simple and easy to use and the customer service is superb. For what seems like too low of a price, Dynu provides a perfect pairing of the convenience of automation along with the right amount of humanity when required. For a beginner, the tutorials and FAQ section is almost invaluable and is probably worth a monthly subscription itself. API, email services, dynamic DNS, SSL and a whole suite of various networking tools are available for customers. This is not an exhaustive list of what they provide, just the things I myself have utilized. Out of curiosity, I tried two other domain registrars and transferred out as soon as possible. As my first experience in the world of domain names, DynuDNS set the bar so high that their competitors simply could not reach it.

GBI had cable companies change I had cable companies change hands, and when that change took place (RCN) my IP video stopped working from outside my network. I called cable provider several times and they denied they weren't blocking any ports... They were lying! They finely admitted that indeed were blocking those ports... (80-25) Before, I had submitted a ticket to Dynu.com support and they advised me to check pot forwarding and I have done many time's. They also advised that some cable providers block ports! (Beware of this)!! So I changed cable provider now and my IP video is back outside my network working fine after 3 months! Been with Dynu.com for many years now. Again thanks you for the heads up and support!

FRSuper speedy response to a problem. I reported a problem on Saturday 20th May 13:15 - I could not get ddclient (attempting to update a subdomain's IP address) to authenticate after several days trying. I constantly received "bad auth". I received a reply on SUNDAY 21st May in the afternoon explaining that I could not authenticate against a subdomain - I had to use &alias= after the main domain name. I.e. the solution was not complex - the problem being caused by my misunderstanding that some people call subdomains "Alias" of the main domain for some reason. I used to think that CNAME records were aliases to the canonical name and A records were subdomains. Ho hum. However, I think that this is an all-time record for a speedy response to a problem - on a weekend as well! PS I am a paying client of dynu just for the record.

GBUsed to be great... no longer... although my past experience was great, recently the email was having slow-down issues and one day the whole system became unavailable for over 8 hours! They said it was due to an upgrade! Upgrades are scheduled, and after reading their reply (below), it sounds more like they had a BIG failure and no backup plan... I have now switched my email to another provider... Note: I also tried their new VPS service which failed less that 24 hours after being activated (with another lame excuse) If you need reliability, find another provider. Their support reply: We are making significant infrastructure upgrades to ensure the future stability of the service. We expect this to take from 2 to 8 hours. Your emails are being received by the backup node so please rest assured that there is no loss of email.
