GBBeware If you are coming from TikTok especially, please read this review of my own personal experience in the Legal Transcription course. I signed up for the Legal Transcription course back in the beginning of April 2023. I was excited to start and even spoke to Diana about it because she was an affiliate for the academy with her own large transcription company. She assured me that the course would set me on the path to an AAERT Certification, as that was a big concern of mine. After being in this course for over five months, I can tell you that I made a huge mistake. Added fees: A few months in, she announced that now there are fees for retaking her tests. This was never mentioned before and, at the time, was not listed anywhere on the site or sign-up documentation. I thought this was unfair, but I was hoping it wouldn't be an issue because I’d study to ensure I passed on the first try. The first Written Test had questions that were different from what we were taught (As I'm writing this, the test has been wiped from the course. How interesting.). As for the second test, Linda says that you can be a transcriptionist with 50 wpm, but I am around 60-65 wpm and cannot finish the second test in time as you are only given 90 minutes, regardless of speed. Also, no study guide is given or allowed. If I would continue this course, I would be on my third try, but I refuse to pay anymore of these added fees. Now, after many others have voiced our issues, Linda has completely revamped the website to include all the fees and even added new information. Such as: you are only allowed a certain number of tries to pass before you are removed from the course altogether. No refunds allowed. For those of us that signed up before all these fees and stipulations were added, we are required to adhere to these new rules. Again, there are no refunds despite how many changes she decides to add afterwards. This feels very unethical. And after this review is posted, I won't be surprised if there are further changes made to her site. Coursework: Even after all of this, if the coursework was consistent, I could maybe still recommend it. But it isn’t. She makes plenty of errors in her teaching files and when you ask about them or point them out, she accuses you of "challenging" her. Rarely will she admit a mistake. How can one possibly hope to pass any further certification when the teachings are so disjointed? In one specific file, she misspells an attorney’s name three times, each in a different way. I feel that this makes it very difficult to learn what the actual correct way to do this job is. Reviews: When someone left a one-star review previously, she posted to the Facebook student group calling for people to post their experiences quickly, going so far as to call it harassment. I’m sure after this is posted she will do the same. Take note of the dates of the previous reviews posted and to possible ones that follow this review. It is my opinion that if you're looking for a Legal Transcription course, I would look elsewhere. The AAERT website has schools that they approve of, all at lower prices than what Learn to Transcribe offers. You can check my Google review for screenshots of proof.

CAI learned about the learn To Transcribe… I learned about the learn To Transcribe course through TikTok. I sat on the fence for a while, hesitant to bite the bullet but I am so happy I did. I am only halfway through the online course but I have already learned so much more than I expected. The online student group is a wonderful support and Linda, the course creator, is very responsive and engaged with her students. This is not your typical online, work at your own pace, course. It truly feels like I am back in school, using my brain, and learning. It feels amazing having a purpose and working towards the end goal of becoming a legal transcriber. The fact that there is a paid apprenticeship at the end is awesome. I am so happy I have found something that will allow me to set my own schedule, and earn an income while staying home with my new baby. I highly recommend the Learn To Transcribe course.

CAI started this course in mid-July of… I started this course in mid-July of 2023. As a mom of two, it was very convenient that I could work at my own pace and on my own schedule which is exactly what I was looking for. Each section of the course was easy to follow with everything explained in great detail. Not only was it explained in great detail, but there was so much material provided to download and print to keep in a binder. I found that to be very helpful for when I started my practice files and needed to refer back to a certain section. Although it is a self-paced course, Linda was there every step of the way to answer any questions. She’s very pleasant to speak with. I’ve enjoyed our conversations! I’m so glad that I made the decision to take this course, and I’m excited to start this next chapter of my career!

CAWould highly recommend! The entire course was very thorough and provided an ample amount of examples, from PDFs to videos. Linda herself was also very communicative and timely with her feedback. It was easy to clarify concerns and questions with her. The course is simple to navigate and pretty straightforward.
