Donations makes your electric bill go sky high. I am being honest here. I am 70 years old and live alone in a one bedroom small apt. My electric bill with or without a contract has always been no more than 110.00. About 8 months ago I got help with my electric bill and the charity put 1100.00 on my bill. As soon as the 1100 dols hit my account all of a sudden my bill doubled. The closer it got to the end of the year the higher my bill was. My last bill was 352.51 and the one before that was 613.50 can you imagine if I had to pay that. They kept telling me because I do not have a contract and it is variable billing which is around 20 cents per kw. This is ridiculous. I was forced into a contract with them because the billing rate was so high. There is no regulation on the variable billing what electric companies can charge. Then they charge Delivery Charges Gross Receipts and tax on the gross receipt. What is Gross receipts ?? I hope your reading this Champion Energy Company. It is almost December and they cannot let me have any charity money left. Oh No so what do they do they up the bills and now the 1100 over 8 months is all used up. I guess that is a good thing because now my rate will go back down to the normal billing rate that I was being billed. I don't think having charity helped me because Champion Energy took advantage of the money and used it all up in 8 months time. I am sending all of my invoices to the charity to let them see what occurred. After all it was the Charities money they were getting not mine. But I do want the charities to take a look at how right when I got the donation that is exactly when my electric bill went up that is really funny huh. The closer it got to Dec the more my electric was. And you watch I have a bal of 138 left over from the donation and I bet you my electric bill with be the exact amount if not higher. I seen what they did they cannot hide this from me. I used to be a bookkeeper and you see this kind of numbers all the time with billing. Anyway I could not afford to switch companies so you got me Champion Energy you made me sign a contract and I didnt want to but you were billing me 653 dollars for a one bedroom apt I had to sign a contract. You said you help seniors no you don't. Yes I am angry. A one bedroom should not have an electric bill of over 650 dollars. It is ridiculous and they got away with it. That is why I am letting the charity see what my bill was before the donation and what my bill was after the donation quite a difference.

Charging a retired couple higher rates… Charging a retired couple higher rates on a longer contract that we were not aware of. They refused to make changes.

Astounding Ineptitude Our meter base suffered damages during the most recent arctic blast, requiring our service to be disconnected while our electrician made repairs. Oncore came out almost immediately to help make repairs. Once all was repaired, Oncore just needed a work order from Champion Energy so they could come reset the meter and reconnect our service. They said they would come back within an hour to do so once Champion responded. When we talked to Champion, they kept telling us they could not guarantee when our power could be restored. We told them Oncore said they would restore it as soon as they received the order from Champion. The would not just send the stupid work order to Oncore. We've been without heat for almost 24 hours. It is 48 degrees in our home and Champion won't do anything to help. It's great when everything is working, but when it isn't, they are incapable of doing anything other than repeat that they cannot guarantee when our power will be restored. We did not ask them for a guarantee or even a time frame. We asked them to send the order to Oncore. Why won't they just send the order? We can work the time frame out with Oncore. I have not been so infuriated with anyone since the time I spent a day on the phone with AT&T years ago dealing with their crooked BS.
