Ireland Vacation Disappointment I enjoyed the convenience of having a planned vacation. Having everything paid for ahead of time created a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, part of the trip was extremely frustrating and in my opinion ruined our vacation. Knowing we were American tourists seeking adventure in Ireland for the first time, we were booked for two nights stay at the Carrig House. The Bed and Breakfast is very difficult to locate driving down narrow rural roads with hedge rows and nowhere to pull over to the side. The nearest town has no public transportation or activities. Although beautiful scenery, the place is out in nowhere with no activities not even a television and no Internet or mobile phone signals. The guests sat around staring at each other and reading magazines. We went into the card room, a quiet activity we like to do at home NOT on vacation. We were unable to enjoy any night life in town due to being too terrified to drive the narrow, dangerous roads at night. I specifically commented that we were apprehensive about driving in Ireland and preferred areas where public transportation was available This was mainly due to the turn circles and driving on the other side of the road. It was not a problem with the motorways but we were stuck in an area where there were only narrow, rural roads. In all of the small towns we were forced to drive through in order to locate the Carrig House, cars were parked on both sides of the roadway making it extremely difficult to drive. The following day we drove to Killarney about 20 kilometers away from the Carrig House. Killarney had hotels, public transportation, and tours. We had a fantastic tour and then stopped by the pub where we would have liked to enjoy Irish music, again we needed to leave because it was late afternoon and too treacherous to drive to the Carrig House after dark on the rural roads. I personally will never stay at another Bed and Breakfast again and I will never travel back to Ireland. P. Eaton
