About John Hall's Alaska

Quality experiences – large and small – set John Hall’s Alaska apart. In operation since 1982, nobody covers more of Alaska or provides a more enriched small-group experience. As a small family-owned and operated tour company with a passion for Alaska, personal attention, exclusive remote access, immersive cultural encounters, and included meals and activities are hallmarks of the John Hall’s Alaska experience. These guided tours travel to all five regions of Alaska – the Artic, Inside Passage, Interior, Southcentral, and Southwest – and with group sizes ranging from only 24 to 40 guests, John Hall’s Alaska provides a more intimate “real” Alaska experience. Wildlife encounters, native cultural experiences, behind-the-scenes access, outdoor activities, and the finest lodging in Alaska are highlights of every departure. Combined tour offerings feature six of Alaska’s eight national parks and optional trips to the other two can be added before or after any scheduled tour. Depending on the itinerary, guests explore via a wide range of transportation modes such as luxury motorcoach, small aircraft, GoldStar first-class rail service, and small private charter vessels. To ensure the highest level of comfort, John Hall’s Alaska operates and maintains a custom-built fleet of spacious MCI motorcoaches that represent the best on the roads of Alaska. The Southern African Safari trip was a trip of a lifetime! The Southern African Safari trip was outstanding! Not only did we stay in 5 star accommodations, but we saw quite a variety of wild animals. The guides at the Shamwari Reserve were exceptional at locating them. Victoria Falls was a magnificent sight to see and our weather the entire trip was great! Another highlight was spending a few nights/days on the Zambezi Queen, cruising the river. All in all, we were in five different African countries and this was a trip of a lifetime!

Very good personal attention Very good personal attention, such as airport pickup. Food choices generally good, but service, food, and rooms poor at Backcountry Lodge. Two hours for dinner - mostly involved waiting for next course and entries were poor. Several days were overall wasted. No need for two days at Backcountry lodge. Talkeetna was a waste as all of group was back at Lodge within two hours. Two cruises basically over the same body of water was a waste of time. Two days in Cordova not needed, especially when accommodations were poor. The unexpected plane ride over the glaciers was trip highlight. We had been to Alaska before and expected a great trip. Very disappointed. Tour manager Jeremy Riddle was very good and personable.

A great way to experience Alaska We were treated just as expected from personal experience received by family (Kathryn) and our phone/web interfaces with you. And our guides (Bill and Danielle) were so much fun. It was a wonderful way to experience Alaska in a way we never had in our many cruise/land tours from the large cruise companies.

The beauty of Ireland and Scotland Our dream vacation was to always travel to Ireland & Scotland. Our tour guide, Gary was excellent. We nicknamed him the professor as he was so knowledgable about the history, landscape, culture and customs of the areas we visited. Learned so much and that's what travel is about. Bill & Danielle, the representatives for John Hall's tours were wonderful. The only downside of the trip was sometimes we felt like too many activities were crammed into a day. Some of the beautiful places we visited were rushed when we could have spent more time exploring. The accomodations were absolutey beautiful.
