Both types of exchange (simultaneous and by GP) are very practical as they offer more freedom and allows you to exchange more often. A lot of homes are registered which gives you a lot of choice. On the downside, support was totally ineffective when I encountered a problem during my exchange in Madeira (bed fleas) and the price of the annual subscription increases regularly.

As a single gal, 65 years old, and frequently traveling solo, all I'm looking for is a safe, convenient, reasonably priced place to stay and HomeExchange wins every time. Hosts and Guests quickly become life-long friends and the community grows in respect, accountability and mutual benefit with every exchange. It is the only way to go...see the world, celebrate connections and share with people.

Positive Experience So far it's been great. I do get a large number of emails from people for dates that aren't open on my calendar so it can be time consuming. I do get emails from home exchange prompting me to reply. Not all emails warrant a reply as some are just saying they are no longer coming or found another place.

Malaga and Cadiz succes The Home-exchange service made our current trip to Andalusia so much more interesting. We connected with Spanish individuals that are letting out their second homes as we do in our native Iceland. Meaning that they are just as used to catering to travellers as we are. It was interesting to compare this relatively high standard with a few midrange hotels we visited as well.
