GBI ordered 2 probes to try out as my… I ordered 2 probes to try out as my previous soil probes from JBK Manufacting are no longer be made. The probes are good quality probes but lack the functionality - efficiency I need when sampling. The 2 available tips wet/dry don’t quite work that well in a variety of soil types which I experience daily. The tips are smaller than my previous JBK which allowed for using my finger to remove cores. These when they jam aren’t as user friendly. The windows on these new probes don’t allow the cores to “roll out” of the probe into my hand as I was accustomed to with my old probe. A slight adjustment with milling grinder would fix this as I did with mine. Lastly, I’m not a huge fan of the removable tips & handles until a better way of securing them is developed.
